2008 Mark 1 "The Gold Card"- Softball Participant Information

This letter is to introduce myself as the newly elected Fundraising Director for the Farmington Girls Fastpitch Association (FGFA).  It has been a real eye opening experience during my first few months in this position as the board strives to improve the financial stability of our program.  As a board we have some long term and short term goals we would like to achieve for the benefit of everyone involved with FGFA.

Short Term Goals:  1 Major Fundraiser each year, with some small fundraisers to build program unity.

*Purchase New Quality Equipment                     *Implement Coaches Clinics

*Field a 16U Team                                              *Purchase New Quality Uniforms

 *Field Improvements

Long Term Goals: 1 Major Fundraiser with additional small fundraisers.

*Lower League Fees                                           *Coaches / Player Clinics

*Off Season Training                                          *Off Season Dome Team(s)

*Purchase Land / Complex for FGFA

Currently FGFA is a self funded program with its only income generated from League Fees and Candy Bar sales.  We have never had the funds to accomplish any goals set by the board.  We hope to change that starting with the 2008 season.

We have partnered with Mark 1 to sell “The Gold Card”  This is going to be a fantastic fundraiser with great financial results that will help FGFA improve its exposure in the community.  We have gone to great lengths to make sure this card is different from many of the other cards that are sold by other programs, churches and schools.  This is truly a $600 value for $20.  No other association will be able to sell these in Farmington, making us the only seller. Other communities and sports programs have had great success selling these.  Businesses want to be on the card and the community wants to purchase them!

These cards will be available at the Community Expo being held on January 26th at FHS from 9am to noon.  Those of you who sign up online will need to meet me at an open gym to pick up your cards.  Our first year goal is to sell 1,000 cards.  After the cards become more and more popular, we hope to hit the 1,500 mark, increasing exposure and our margins.

If you have 1 girl in the program you will be required to sell 3 cards.  For those who have 2 or more girls in FGFA, your family will be required to sell 5 cards.  This will add $60 or $100 to your league fees, respectively.  (Once you sell the cards for $20 each, you will recover your fundraising fees.)

 Highlights of the Gold Card:

·         2 Identical Continuous Use Cards with 27 Retailers, Restaurants and Entertainment Discounts.

·         9 Monthly Cards and 1 Quarterly Card.

·         Gas Discount!  Food Discounts! Meat Market & Bakery Discounts!

·         Sporting Goods Discounts, Entertainment Discounts! Gift and Coffee Discounts!

·         $600 value for $20

For those of you that have daughters in their final year or years with FGFA, we want to Thank You in advance for your hard work and dedication towards FGFA reaching our long term goals.  Your work is going to ensure a strong program in the future, something to be proud of!

I would encourage you to contact me if you have any questions, comments or suggestions regarding fundraising.  I can assure you that the board is working very hard to improve the program while striving to increase participation and community involvement.

 Regards,

Steve Berdan
